Tackling the serious subject of decolonialization in African universities and creating a constructive platform in which to encourage debate and understanding was a key part of this mandatory first year undergraduate fully online course at the University of Johannesburg. The programme, injected with the works of celebrated African authors and pan-African thinkers, made use of diverse and innovative media types, including immersive audio & video interviews and lessons, to engage each student and enhance the learning experience. It also used best practice community engagement and development techniques to encourage students to debate and air their views as part of a vibrant and active online community of over 2000 students.
